Karen: My Journey
I started to practise yoga 6 years ago and am loving how this has made me grow stronger physically and mentally. I am mindful of living each moment in the present being calmer and more focused on the important things in my life.
I completed my 200 hr yoga teaching with Abode Yoga and have continued to attend trainings in other yoga programmes.
Specialising in the practise of Yin Yoga which is a slower paced style of yoga incorporating postures (asanas) with the principles of chinese medicine, poses are held for between 3-5 minutes, using the correct breathing techniques helps you to be still, calm your mind & go deeper into the body.
I am passionate about this practise and would like to share this yoga which is accessible to everyone, I am known for my authentic and non judgemental teaching style and have a compassionate-centered philosophy. Everyone should have Yin Yoga in their lives, it benefits the whole being.
I offer workshops on the Science and benefits of Yin Yoga to give you an overview of exactly what to expect before you commit as well as offering courses to help you deepen your practise and awareness of the body and mind.
In my classes I love to combine deep awareness of being calm in the present moment whilst stilling the mind to make the postures more accessible.
After Yoga I have a grandchild who I love to spend time practising a bit of mindfulness yoga with him, amazing he sits in lotus without any effort ( trying to keep calm on the mat) is good fun. Food is a passion of mine so I cook whenever I can, and since covid I have become aware of the importance of mental health, managing stress so walking, reading and just being with myself in stillness has helped me in these uncertain times.
